Christoph Markschies is professor of Ancient Christianity at Humboldt-University in Berlin and currently serving as president of both the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and Humanities as well as Union of the German Academies of Sciences and Humanities. Among other awards and honours, he has received the Leibniz Award of the German National Research Council.
