María Josefina Caal Xol

María Caal Xol is a distinguished Maya-Q’eqchi’ leader and a member of the Board of the Cahabón Resistance in Alta Verapaz, Guatemala. Originally from the Sepos community in Cahabón, she has gained recognition for her unwavering commitment to defending Indigenous peoples' land and water rights. María has been at the forefront of the resistance against extractivism in the region.
