Forecast Condensed: Coding the Human — We have Become Tools in the Hands of our Tools

Forecast

The massive application of AI in mental healthcare, nursing, warfare, and other sensitive areas is coming. How do we react to this? How will our children feel about it?

A workshop with Roy Amit, Freo Majer, Ruth Patir, and Ina Schieferdecker.

In the workshop Coding the Human: We Have Become Tools in the Hands of Our Tools, researchers and creative thinkers are invited to showcase specific projects they are currently engaging with in order to critically reflect on questions and considerations arising from their research with peers and voices from the worlds of science, art, and their intersection with society.

The projects, selected through an open call, will revolve around the observation that, increasingly, cognitive skills and agency are relegated to technology. Meanwhile, technological innovation is happening at a rapid pace, never slowing down to question its impact on society, the future, or its global, ethical implications.

The workshop is enacted by Forecast as part of Berlin Science Week. It is organized in collaboration with the Falling Walls Foundation, and is co-funded by the Schering Foundation. Ruth Patir’s work-stay in Berlin is facilitated by Artis together with DAAD.

The Open Call for projects will be announced on September 26.
