Mateusz Ambrożkiewicz is a neurobiologist fascinated by the genes, molecules and cellular processes at play during brain formation. His research group at Charité studies why these processes go awry in early brain diseases like autism spectrum or intellectual disability.

Talk description

How to build a brain? Wie baut man ein Gehirn?

Our ability to generate exciting new ideas, speak different languages and excel in math class at school are all encoded in our brain. How does this organ form? What is the source of all its different cell types, its intricate organisation, and supervisory role over our entire body? In my talk, I will explore the developmental origins of the nervous system in health and explain what goes wrong in neurological disease.
