3. BfR Knowledge Dialogue: Knowledge and Values – Significance for Science and Society

German Federal Institute for Risk Assessment

Is modern civilisation too risky? Is it even an opponent of morality? Or can ethics and knowledge follow a joint path, and knowledge and values work together?

Science and technology are an essential foundation of an industrial society. What is their relationship to our values? Real or perceived hazards often dominate public perception: from microplastics to plasticisers, from glyphosate to antibiotic residues. Is modern civilisation too risky? Is it even an opponent of morality? Or can ethics and knowledge follow a joint path, and knowledge and values work together?

Our experts discuss knowledge and values and their importance for science and society. The event will be moderated by Jan-Martin Wiarda.
